Fines & Penalties
Electronic KTEO check
Electronic checks are carried out automatically through Ministry of Transport systems, verifying whether a vehicle has undergone inspection on time. If no valid inspection is found, a fine may be issued directly to the owner, even without a police check. For this reason, it is important to keep your inspection up to date and schedule it on time through ekteo.gr.
What happens during a police check
During a police check, if a vehicle is found without a valid KTEO inspection certificate, an administrative fine is imposed in accordance with the applicable Road Traffic Code and relevant legal provisions. The driver is also required to comply immediately and complete the inspection within a specified timeframe.
In certain cases, especially when the violation is combined with serious defects or significant delay, vehicle documents such as the registration license or license plates may be temporarily removed until compliance is achieved. The violation is recorded electronically and may lead to additional penalties if not resolved.
To avoid such situations, it is important to keep your inspection valid and schedule it on time through ekteo.gr, preventing unnecessary fines and inconvenience.
